project details

We took 12th Tribe from incremental fixes to a complete redesign and rebuild, featuring a new foundation, new front-end, new checkout experience and built mobile-first from the start. The work was grounded in behavioral data throughout: what customers were doing, where they were dropping off, and what a higher-intent shopping experience actually needed to look like at their scale.

CHALLENGE

CHALLENGE

12th Tribe came to Gamma Waves with a site that had outgrown itself. A patchwork of fixes had kept things running, but friction persisted at every key moment in the shopping journey from product discovery through to checkout. As the brand scaled into the mid-eight-figure range, the gaps between their merchandising ambitions and their site's actual capabilities became harder to ignore. Incremental optimization wasn't going to close that gap. A complete redesign and rebuild was the only path forward.

Goal

Goal

Rebuild the site from the ground up on a more capable foundation, with mobile performance and checkout conversion as the primary design principles. Give the 12th Tribe team a platform they could actually grow into - one that matched the brand's aesthetic, handled their traffic volume, and made the path from discovery to purchase as frictionless as possible.

Result

Result

The numbers tell the story. Comparing the first quarter post-launch (Feb–May 2026) to the same period a year prior, revenue grew 9.6% with fewer discounts doing the heavy lifting. Average order value climbed 6.4%, gross sales increased 12.5%, and orders were up 5%. The redesigned checkout close rate improved from 45.3% to 47.9%, and mobile CVR also improved, a direct result of building mobile-first from the start.
